Not thrilled about this week’s theme (what else is new) but here you go.
And the avarice… The avarice never ends! "I want golf clubs. I want diamonds. I want a pony so I can ride it twice, get bored and sell it to make glue." Look, I don’t wanna make waves, but this whole Christmas season is stupid, stupid, stupid!
~How the Grinch Stole Christmas (2000)
Ok, don’t get me wrong here. I love the Christmas season. I love what it represents. I am eternally grateful for the birth of my Savior, Jesus Christ. But I cringe every year when Halloween ends and all the Christmas crap starts getting put on the shelves. I avoid the seasonal section at all costs.
We have always strived to keep Christmas simple in our home, and not just for economic reasons. We want our kids to understand that yes we give gifts to one another in remembrance of the greatest gift of all but Christmas is NOT about the gifts we receive. This year I am determined to find opportunities for us to serve our fellowmen as a family. I hope I succeed in this though, the craziness is another thing I loathe during the holiday season.
So I am grateful for the holidays, I am grateful to have family near us to enjoy the holidays with and I am grateful for my Savior and his atoning sacrifice for me.
